The weather certainly doesn't feel like it yet, but we are celebrating spring here at 45rpm Part of our new spring collection is the Amish Series, from our organic Dash line which is sold exclusively at the Soho store. We find continuous inspiration in traditional textiles from around the world, and our Amish-inspired line is just one example of the correlation between traditional textile arts and our own 45rpm philosophy. The tiny flower and dot patterns on our fabrics made for our Dash Amish Series are inspired by the traditional motifs used by the Pennsylvania Dutch people. Such symbols of nature are thoughts to bring good luck and health. You can see our own interpretations of these motifs in the fabrics that we created exclusively for this series. By using the dark indigo dye, we hope to both respect the Amish tradition of using dark and modest colors and use our favorite color!! The Dash Amish Patchwork series reflects the inspiration that we find in the simple work wear of the Amish people. As the clothing is broken in through wear and tear, patches are used to extend the life of the garment. This holds very dear to the concept of mottainai. We aspire to always reuse and recycle our fabrics. Our Amish Patchwork Series includes items such as the Amish Patchwork Skirt ($448), Amish Patchwork Blouse ($416), and Amish Patchwork Stole ($208).
